Ol Donyo Sabuk National Park

Ol Donyo Sabuk National Park is situated approximately eighty five kilometers north-east of Nairobi in Machakos district of Eastern province offering Ultimate Panoramic Experience. The ecosystem in the park consists of a mountain which is completely sheltered with thick montane forest leaving a small section at the top of the mountain.

Wildlife that can be spotted in the national park include Buffalo, leopard, colobus monkey, bushbuck, Kirk’s dik-dik, common duiker, olive baboon, bush-baby, rock hyrax, bush pig, vervet monkey, aardvark, python, tree and ground squirrel, Sykes’ monkey, reedbuck, mongoose, porcupine and monitor lizard.

The park also forms a habitat of over forty five bird species which have been recorded in this park such as grey- headed sparrow weaver, augur buzzard, bronze sunbird, black-headed oriole, yellow-vented bulbul, helmeted guinea fowl, white-browed sparrow weaver, African hawk eagle, purple-breasted sunbird, grey tit, bateleur, superb starling, speckled mousebird, African pied wagtail, mourning dove, great sparrow- hawk, ring-necked dove and Mackinnon grey shrike.

The size of the park is 20.7 Km2 and can be from Thika town where you will proceed for twenty two kilometers along the main Garissa road to Makutano junction then follow the KWS sign and turn right, proceeding three kilometers on an all-weather murram road to Donyo town. At Donyo turn right and proceed for about two kilometers to the main gate.

Ol Donyo Sabuk National Park which is approximately twenty seven kilometers east of Thika and can be accessed by public transport and can be toured all year round
