Kisumu Impala Sanctuary
Kisumu Impala Sanctuary is situated approximately three kilometers from Kisumu city. The park is a home to both free ranging and captive animals as well as a home to over one hundred and fifteen species of birds, a variety of trees, grass and herbs amongst others.
The sanctuary which is Less than 1 km2 is 355km north of Nairobi and three kilometers from Kisumu city centre. It borders Wildlife Clubs of Kenya and the Yacht club. The sanctuary can also be accessed from Nairobi on air in which the flight takes approximately 50 minutes.
The sanctuary shows all the animals the big five animals except the Elephant. Captive animals include the spotted hyena, leopard, patas monkeys, blue monkey, grey parrots, grey duikers, ostriches, buffaloes, hartebeest, lions, lionesses, cheetahs, white rhino, tortoises and guinea fowls amongst others. The free ranging animals include impalas, hippos, zebras, monitor lizards, red tailed mongoose, sitatungas and many more.
In terms of accommodation at the sanctuary, there is a twenty four bed capacity eco-lodge located inside the sanctuary; Impala Eco-lodge which offers state of the art accommodation to the sanctuary visitors. There are other accommodation facilities within Kisumu town
